We look forward to welcoming you to our private basement hideaway – in the old equipment room beneath the Hotel Magdalena on Music Lane. Here you will find an intimate space that houses one of Austin’s most special record collections played on custom vintage hi-fi equipment. Blending Japanese Jazz Kissa culture with our Texas take – Equipment Room feels like a wholly new, yet very familiar experience. It’s the place we’ve been dreaming of for quite some time. So whether you come to listen to our collection, or for the cocktails, food and conversation – all are welcome at Equipment Room.
Reservations are available and we hold a limited number of tables for walk-ins on a nightly basis. We kindly ask that if you can’t make your reservation, you cancel at least 24 hours in advance. You don’t want to keep someone else from the sound do you?

The EQ team has partnered with our friends at Klipsch, acoustic engineers, Breakaway Records, and AHS to design a space with an acute attention to detail when it comes to sound quality and ideal listener experience for our collection. Our mission is to be able to treat every record in our collection with the respect that each deserves, and play them as they were intended — on a considered system that cares for every aspect of sound within the perfect dynamic range. If we can get that right — and pair it with good lighting, joyful service, a thoughtful cocktail and a perfect bite…then we are on our way to delivering something special for you.
